Until May 2010 securitized loans were removed from banks' balance sheets, in accordance with Local Accounting Standards. As of June 2010 securitized loans are not removed unless IFRS standards are met. This resulted in all securitized loans being brought back into the balance sheets as of June 2010. Thus volumes and account numbers jumped between end-2009 and end-2010. MFI (deposit taking and non-deposit taking) and Mobile Money service providers, do not exist in Greece. Other deposit takers, do not extend any loans to SMEs. Instead they extent loans to households and public entities. As of 2016 the category ‘other deposit takers’ only includes money market funds institutions, which do not extend loans. Accordingly, the number of borrowers, the number of loan accounts and the outstanding amount of loans are all zero. Until 2015 in this category we also had a government-owned specialized organization, which in 2016 was reclassified to the government sector. Non-Branch Retail agent outlets do not exist in Greece. The change in the methodology concerns the reclassification of certain transactions from the category of ‘e-money transactions’ to the category of ‘debit card transactions’ in 2022.
