Su mayor actividad en el mercado aumentó considerablemente el número y valor de operaciones de instituciones de dinero electrónico en 2023.The number of depositors, of deposit accounts, of borrowers and number of loan accounts of commercial banks for years 2016-2018 are revised, this to reflect the change in the methodology that asks for the joint accounts to count all depositors individually. The gender disaggregated data do not reflect this change because this methodology was already applied in these data. The 2019 data, for the first time report the gender disaggregated data of outstanding deposits and outstanding loans of financial institutions. The stock of joint accounts is disaggregated too. For instance, if a loan is taken by a husband and a wife the outstanding loan is disaggregated 50% as loans to men and 50% as loans to women. Number of registered and active mobile money agent outlets for years 2018 are revised. "NA" indicates that the financial institutions or financial services do not exist in Albania. Other deposit takers only serve household and this is by law. Non deposits taking MFIs, whose primary activity is microcredit, have as their main customers the households, but have no obligation by low to credit other sectors. Some of the data of 2016 have been revised. The number of registered mobile money accounts refers to active accounts, and the number of registered mobile money agents refers to active agents. Since 2018, mobile money items include data on e-money institutions. As of end of 2023, there are 10 e-money institutions providing e-money payments. Albania has approved the law on Payment Services, which transposes the PSD2. The law has been enforced in 2021 and has created opportunities for the establishment of new payment institutions. As they have become more active in the payment market, the number and value of transactions carried through EMIs has increased considerably in 2023
